Lutein

Lutein is a yellow carotenoid and like all carotenoids, it is an antioxidant. It is found in the macula of the eye and may therefore protect the macula tissue from harmful oxidation by quenching free radicals. Indeed insufficient levels of lutein in the macula have been identified as a risk factor in the onset of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
